Lord, how far I have come.

And only by Your Grace have I come. But even still, make the grossness of my sin and the reality of my rebellion realer to me everyday. Break my heart with the knowledge that I have violated Your holiness and flirted with the devil. Make the desire to follow You the foremost desire of my heart.

These last two years have been incredible. God has been growing me in truly remarkable ways. And in spite of that, the way my self-righteousness still fails me is -- so painfully incredible! I am yearning to return to my childlike faith once more, to truly repent and to bask in His glory. In my struggles, I read over old blog entries, and I am reminded of timeless truths and His abiding faithfulness:

"Give up yourself, and you will find your real self. Lose your life and you will save it. Submit to death, death of your ambitions and favourite wishes every day and death of your whole body in the end: submit with every fibre of your being, and you will find eternal life. Keep back nothing. Nothing that you have not given away will be really yours. Nothing in you that has not died will ever be raised from the dead. Look for yourself, and you will find in the long run only hatred, loneliness, despair, rage, ruin, and decay. But look for Christ and you will find Him, and with Him everything else thrown in." - C. S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

Sweet transference

Every time I visit high school I get this interesting feeling. I can say with surety that I delighted in all kinds of earthly happiness during those years. Yet, I also remember it as a bitter site of deep spiritual slumber. Little Lotte thought of everything and nothing.

In 30 minutes, I will no longer be an eighteen year-old. It has been a year full of revelations and growth. I progress slowly, but the promise is certain.

The key is to forget about the self altogether.

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
