For Thou hast come to seek and save the lost, not the righteous.
"And let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near." - Heb. 10:24-26
Thank God for enabling me to do this recently. Thank God for the joy that I can have in doing His will. Like I often say, it is only due to His grace that I am able to; yet I slip again and think, "I am in a good place because I am doing this. I am so righteous. Oh man. Oh my God."
Why do I know, and yet... yet I continually make Christ's gospel into another series of codes to be followed -- a mere religious system that can earn me salvation?
Alas, my flesh is so prone to fall to self-righteousness.
I am going to go read some MacArthur to smack me upside down. Will be back with a better note tomorrow, in time for the Christmas spirit. I promise.
In the words of great MacArthur, I shall return.
(No, not that one, silly.)
Yes, living, dying, let me bring
ReplyDeleteMy strength, my solace from this spring;
That He who lives to be my King
Once died to be my Savior
