This is what I call: WHAT the Fritz.
Right underneath the writing "Goals for the Semester," is my goal -- loling away and hoping that the cause of it would stop.
National Championship University. :-/
On a brighter note, Laura and I have two prospective Christian roommates. It's amazing how God always provides for the best! Not because of me but because of His +α grace towards me. In these tiny details of mundane life, I continually see that He loves me so very much. :-)
He wants us to be still and know that He is God, so that He may be exalted among the nations.
Have a great week!
Just curious. Whats up with you and Herman Hesse?
ReplyDeleteI'm just not particularly fond of his works... Nothing against Hesse himself. His stuff is just so dry to me, and there is never a satisfactory ending. Personal preference.
ReplyDeleteWow/lol @ most of those goals.
ReplyDeleteAnd yayy at getting Christian roomies for next year!! Now if me and Rob can just find some...:P
That wasnt the response I expected about Hesse. As a new believer, mannnnnnny years ago, I started reading his stuff in college. In the middle of the second book, I felt like the Lord wanted me to stop. I found it captivating, but in an unhealthy way. So, I never picked it up again.
ReplyDeleteI agree, the ideas in his books were not healthy. I was not sure at first if you were a fan of Hesse, so I left it at that initially. So here is the real reason:
ReplyDeleteWhen I read Demian and Beneath the Wheel back in fifth grade, Hesse dwindled my young faith in Christ. (It was even easier for him, because I did not know of/understand the promise of eternally secure salvation back then...) I loved to read, but it was my first encounter with any sort of godless thinking in literature. I did not understand Hesse's philosophy behind his works until I grew up and read about him in high school. I still remember those quiet periods of depression and confusion on the verge of adolescence. Today I'm just grateful to God that He did not abandon me in my helpless state during those days.
(And I apologize for my initial dishonesty. I have resorted to not expressing my real ideas when it comes to strangers. Though a Christian brother is a totally different matter, as I found out. :))
Have a great one!
