Today, I thought I'd post something tangible pertaining to my life for once.
Registration is done, and it looks like Spring '08 may be my favorite semester yet.
Marcy's coming up this weekend. Who's excited? This girl right here. Also, Laura's sister Heather and her friend Emily are coming up this weekend; and Amy's two friends are coming up to stay with us. It would be a one heck of a sleepover! Unfortunately, with the speed-eating of four girls with exams to destroy (or to be destroyed by), there is no way these cakes are lasting until the end of the week. 1/2 gone and counting...
On a brighter note, the Abstract test is postponed indefinitely... or so I wish. Dr. Vince postponed it until next Wednesday, and that permits me to breathe for next couple of days.
To speak of spiritual things...
As the ancients believed, I think the names exert an influence over their bearers. It's interesting how my name's English meaning is a lighthearted pun; whereas the other meaning is more weighty. It almost characterizes my whole life and symbolizes the constant struggle between my fleshly desires and the desire to be sacrificed unto His altar.
And on that note, I am starting to have certain delusions of grandeur again. All my fond ambitions... and they don't always *feel* sinful. I purposely daydream about fame (Funny; I know, since I'll probably be living in a box one day), although I sing "Jesus I my cross have taken" with my lips. It can be frightening how I don't always feel the full destructive force of self-reliance... I pray, but I too often forget to put on the mindset that, if I wish to pray in a profitable manner, I must learn ever set before me the death of Christ, which alone sanctifies my prayers. I cannot pass Christ and His death, yet wish to enter into the presence of God... ah, what a sobering fact.
May the mind of Christ my Savior dwell in me from day to day. By His love and power controlling all I do and say.
One of your more powerful posts in a while...appreciate the latter half of it a lot.
