Picking the Blue Strings

Lights flicker in ecstasy,

Dissonant overtones overwhelm.

Guests trot about in confidence,

Save she who swirls in nervous excitement --

Almost nothing in her dress of pink blush.

Scrutinized a sea of brilliant colors,

Hearts skip a beat and rock step, hop.

What gentle pair of white sandals,

Footfalls as light as morning dew.

Coral curves, a graceful hug about the waist.

Tender taps awaken.

The gentleman's disheveled black hair,

Rain deepens its hue of saturated mocha.

Swingin' after the fashion of the old --

Topsy-turvy reflections sway in her vision,

The world in inverse and Charleston.

Trumps blare one last discord.

Manikins lower,

Bringing the breathless dip to rest.
