I wonder how philosophers manage to subject themselves to the most frustrating task every day. My head would explode...
Let the wicked forsake his way,
And the unrighteous man his thoughts;
And let him return to the Lord,
And He will have compassion on him;
And to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. (Isaiah 55:7)
My problem (or everyone's problem) is that I think passively about steps to salvation, confess and feel better for a while, instead of actively acting upon it and turning away from sin in the most radical way possible. It is an active submission not only of the immaterial will but also of the material body. When I forget that submission is all-inclusive, I am prone to fall. Put another way, I am miserable because I am only concerned about my mental well-being and my spiritual salvation. I do not often realize that it is His manifest glory and His visible work that I am supposed to do, on this Earth. Let's be honest; sure, we confess that with our mouths, but are we really doing it? We must not de-emphasize the importance of our physical bodies being used for His glory in everyday life -- the penultimate evidence to our salvation.
Jesus, I have stayed on Thee. Let Thy grace like a fetter, not only bind my wandering heart to Thee, but my hands and feet as well so that they may be consecrated unto Thy glory.
Are there songs that sing His Grace, which empowers us to change the world around us in most tangible and constructive ways?
It's hard but only in that everything good is impossible for us.
ReplyDeleteWhich leads me to my second comment. The song can stay how it is... only a change in our hearts will let us serve as we should and only serving as we should indicates a truly righteous heart.
I'm sorry if I came across as condemning in that comment, I hope you know I wasn't. :)
ReplyDeleteJust been thinking about my own heart, that's all.
