Started writing this a couple months back but now in its final form. Not a perfect (or original, for that matter) song but one day we will sing a nobler, sweeter song.
==========================
Beloved
[CHORUS]
The LORD,
the warrior,
Clothed in majesty,
Girded with strength.
He speaks;
the earth trembles.
the lofty mountains bow low;
the sea stills its surging pride.
[BRIDE]
Lo--
Who is this?
A kingly face
Coming up from the hills of Zion,
Like the sun shining in full strength.
Mercy graces His stainless crown,
My Beloved.
His arms subdue principalities;
Pillars hewn from choice cedars of
Lebanon.
His feet emerges from the furnace,
burnished and glowing,
dripping with light,
made ready
to tread on the grapes.
[CHORUS]
The LORD,
The Beloved,
Clothed in majesty,
Girded with strength.
Before Him
the nations are as nothing,
The lords and kings
as dust on the scales;
the wind brushes upon them,
and they are no more.
[BRIDE]
Lo--
Who is this?
Spring rain's gentle strength in His
arms,
Love of the downtrodden in His hands,
Counsel of the Ancient in His
voice,
Meekness graces His brows,
My Beloved.
The Creator of Good,
The Architect of Beauty,
The Lover of Justice,
The Pursuer of His own.
The Singer
and
Himself
the Song
This is mine
And my Beloved,
O inhabitants of Jerusalem.
