Well, this year started off with a few disappointments towards the insulated and self-focused American individualism. Regarding the lack of common decency, I need not say anymore. My prayer is that He will keep me from being irritated by such petty things.
He trains me to live at peace with the undisciplined -- to not trust any human power or rely on any friendship but His.
But it's difficult telling self so. My prayer is that one day it will become easier.
So often we forget that Christianity doesn't exist to serve ourselves better -- it's not for our own advancement or beautification. Christianity's existence in our lives, is to forget self and follow Christ.
And how often do I believe that serving the Lord will serve me better; that eventually it is in my own power...
Yeah, it's tricky isn't it.
ReplyDelete"God blesses me so much because I'm such a good Christian," I struggle with that a lot. Serving _Him_ is the blessing and everything else is just... a bonus. ;-)
