Struggled against the torrent
You, swimming in the Death River.
Gentle Hand reached out and held you firm.
Laying you down in green pastures,
He shewed you the water of Life,
Winding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
He made you His bride.
You heard His voice; He knew you.
He said, Drink freely,
No man shall pluck you out of my hand,
For my Father is greater than any man.
We rejoiced.
A glorious wedding it was.
Tears and joys and miracles
Honeymoon was yet not over.
Then your visits to the ruins of Fake Glory began.
Deserts, barren lands, laying in waste.
Many your friends remained there,
Seeking oasis.
Amidst thirst and confusion
Unquenched, you declared to move out.
Quiet shouts and solemn heartbreaks,
Why? I asked.
On your wedding day,
Joy that you shared with everybody
Can't have been just visions for you.
Smiling sadly,
You left home then.
I remain behind, waiting for You.
He is too, more zealously than I am.
If I waft this, maybe someday it will reach you.
It's all right.
I'll talk to Him about you everyday, so...
Oh no, I planned to see you off with a smile.
* * *
Yes, someday the truth of all this will reach you, I pray.
On other note, changed "Torn Sail" to "Ghost Sail" and changed many things in that poem. Still need to work on Chapter 7 of "Three Kingdoms." I'm planning on writing a World Cup short story thingy, too (Oh boy!). So much to do; so little time. I'm off two days next week, so maybe completion is a possibility.
Hope everyone has a blessed week; getting to know Him anew daily.
ooh, I didn't see this poem before.
ReplyDeleteToo depressing and real...anyways, it was well-written though.
Really? I thought it was rather colloquial than poetic.
