But one person...
That one person hated him for his playful nature. None but his girlfriend.
When they had first met, his outgoing personality is what magnetized her. But as she saw him brimming with smiles, and the girls hovering about him, she developed insecurity.
It was her birthday.
A lot of people gathered together to wish her their blessings. The party felt an upsurge of excitement as the hours wore on and the night deepened. For the climax of the night, it became his turn to give her her birthday present. Many were filled with anticipation, since his name was prominent in the world of designers as well. Knowing his talent, they wondered what wonderful godsend was in the box.
But the present was... a one-piece dress mangled all over beyond recognition.
Everyone heartily laughed at his impish smile and his eyes beaming with mischief. But he was not able to keep in touch with her after that night. Furious, she had already decided to say a relentless goodbye.
For three months, he wrote her daily apology letters to earn her forgiveness. For three months, he brought many a bouquet of flowers to her door. For three months, ever so waiting until the sun went down, not missing a single sunset. After waiting many days in despair, he was barely forgiven.
"If you make another jest, our relationship is over."
His radiant nature perspired into darkness subsequently – insipid watercolor in its secret lament. Time passed, and they promised marriage.
It was the day before the wedding. Pouring his heart and soul into it, he made her wedding dress himself. High were her expectations, as she was to be his bride. Looking forward to see her brightly smiling, he pressed the doorbell to her apartment. The door opened, and embracing her warmly, he showed her the dress that embodied every ounce of his passion. She opened the box with anticipation, and her face turning cold, she said, "This was your last chance... Goodbye."
Not allowing him a second to speak, she left the house. Her one-piece miniskirt was carelessly cast upon the floor, a fallen pearly grace. She had asked him for a long, voluminous dress. He waited there for a week, but she did not return. Their love had ended forever.
The years passed by. She married an ordinary man and had a daughter, living her life as adventurous as any other housewife.
That afternoon was the ten-year anniversary of their goodbye. Her daughter came back from school, and delivered the news that she had secured the lead princess role in the first graders' play. Quite at a loss for an apt costume, she began searching through her old clothes and stumbled upon a familiar mini-skirt. Thinking that it would amply measure down to her feet, she dressed her daughter, not giving any special thought to it.
The child, simply loving the pure elegance of white, began to swirl in joy. Watching her daughter, her eyes glistened. Her face, vacant in expression, was soon covered in hot tears.
With every round her daughter made, the miniskirt unfolded hem by hem. Finally, a gorgeous wedding dress reached the bottom and revealed itself in its bridal glory...
He had envisioned her twirl in delight...
